Six data passes

One free pass for each region, holding a whole year of contest data.

Budtender of the Year runs through 2027. Every scan, vote and answer along the way adds to a picture of the market that no counter can see on its own: who the guests are, where they come from, how often they come and how they travel. In each region, one shop gets that picture free.

What the pass is

The full year of 2027 contest and site data for the region, in aggregate, delivered as one set in 2028. It shows the shape of the market: trends, price points, who travels and when they come. It never holds names, emails, addresses or phone numbers. Nobody can buy those from us, and that includes the pass holder.

The six regions

• North ~ Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe
• East ~ Overijssel, Gelderland
• Central ~ Utrecht, Flevoland
• West ~ North Holland and South Holland, outside Amsterdam
• South ~ North Brabant, Limburg, Zeeland
• Amsterdam ~ a region of its own

How a pass is given

The first pass in each region is handed to one shop, chosen by the editor. That shop has two weeks to claim it. If it is not claimed, the pass for that region opens to applications from any shop in the region on the date shown below. Applications are vetted. To apply once a region is open, write to editor@tingeworld.com with the shop’s name, city and KVK number.

Where each region stands

Dates and times are Amsterdam time.

A shop’s part and a budtender’s part are separate. Budtenders take part on their own, as themselves, and the directory keeps everyone independent. More for shops is on the for shops page.
